Jinan University implements an “Application Review System” for the admission of students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities, and international students in China. Under this system, applicants complete the online application, upload all required documents as stipulated by the University, and submit their application. Once the materials pass review, applicants may proceed directly to the re-examination. Admission is granted based on merit, and there is no limit on the number of available places.
School Overview
“Business education has been part of Jinan University’s identity from the very beginning.”Business education at Jinan University dates back to 1918, when the “Department of Commerce” was established at the initiative of Mr. Huang Yanpei, marking the beginning of a century-long tradition in business studies at the university. In 1998, the University brought together its strengths in key disciplines such as Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering to form the School of Management, fully realizing the potential of Jinan University's management programs.
The School of Management offers a comprehensive range of disciplines and distinctive teaching features. It boasts two first-level discipline doctoral programs in Business Administration and Management Science and Engineering, which encompass six second-level discipline doctoral programs: Corporate Management, Accounting, Financial Management, Technical Economics and Management, International Business, and Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. It also houses two first-level discipline postdoctoral research stations in Business Administration and Management Science and Engineering, and offers academic Master’s programs in Management Science and Engineering, Corporate Management, Accounting, Financial Management, Technology Economics and Management, International Business, and Psychology. The School also offers professional degree programs such as Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), Master of Auditing (MAud), Master of Engineering (Industrial Engineering), and Master of Engineering Management (MEM). The School has one national-level experimental teaching demonstration center and three national-level teaching teams, and has developed more than ten national and provincial first-class courses. Guided by the philosophy of “integration, inheritance, and innovation”, the School continues to build high-level academic peaks, and its Business Administration discipline has made significant progress in the fifth round of the Ministry of Education’s national discipline evaluation.

Eligibility Requirements
I.Identity Requirements
1.Applicants from Hong Kong or Macao must hold a Hong Kong or Macao Permanent Resident Identity Card and either the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents or the Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents.
2.Applicants from Taiwan must hold a valid identification document issued in Taiwan and either the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents or the Residence Permit for Taiwan Residents.
3.Overseas Chinese Applicants
(1)Applicants who have obtained long-term or permanent residence in their country of residence and have resided continuously for two years, with at least 18 months of cumulative residence within the two years.
(2)Applicants who have not obtained long-term or permanent residence, but have legal residence qualification in the country of residence for five consecutive years or more, and have resided cumulatively for at least 30 months within those five years. Study abroad or official overseas work assignments are not considered as establishing residence.
4.International applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, hold a valid foreign passport, be in good health, possess good moral character, have no record of misconduct, and comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the University’s rules and regulations.
II.Academic and Degree Requirements
1.Applicants for a Doctoral degree must meet one of the following academic and degree requirements:
(1)Current-year graduates with a Master’s degree recognized by the education authorities of the People’s Republic of China. (The Master’s degree certificate or the Foreign Academic Degree and Qualification Certificate issued by the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center must be obtained no later than the time of formal enrollment in the year of admission).
(2)Applicants who have obtained a Master’s degree from a university in the Chinese mainland, or a recognized university in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, or abroad.
(3)Non-current-year graduates who have not yet obtained a Master’s degree at the time of application may apply under the equivalent academic qualification category, provided that they hold a Bachelor’s degree, have at least six years of work experience, and can provide research achievements demonstrating a level equivalent to Master’s-level research ability.
★International applicants seeking a Doctoral degree in China must hold a Master’s degree. Applications under the equivalent academic qualification category are not accepted.
2.Applicants for a Master's degree must meet one of the following academic and degree requirements:
(1)Current-year graduates with a Bachelor’s degree recognized by the education authorities of the People’s Republic of China. (The Bachelor’s degree certificate or the Foreign Academic Degree and Qualification Certificate issued by the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center must be obtained no later than the time of formal enrollment in the year of admission).
(2)Applicants who have obtained an undergraduate graduation certificate or Bachelor’s degree certificate from a recognized university in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, or abroad.
(3)Non-current-year graduates who have not yet obtained an undergraduate graduation certificate or Bachelor’s degree may apply under the equivalent academic qualification category, provided that they have completed a higher vocational or associate degree with at least two years of work experience (from graduation to September 1 of the year of admission, for fall intake).
3.Applicants for the professional Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering Management [code 125601] must have at least three years of work experience after graduating with a Bachelor's degree; or have obtained a nationally recognized higher vocational college diploma or a Bachelor's degree completion certificate, reached the equivalent academic level of a Bachelor's graduate, and have at least five years of work experience; or have obtained a Master's or Doctoral degree and have at least two years of work experience.
4.Applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities who apply for part-time professional Master’s programs (Master of Auditing) must have at least one year of relevant work experience.
III.Applicants must be in good health, possess good moral character, have no record of misconduct, and comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China as well as the rules and regulations of Jinan University.
IV.Language Proficiency Requirements (for International Graduate Students Only)
1.Programs taught in Chinese (Humanities and Social Sciences): Applicants must achieve HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above (language proficiency certificates must be valid). Applicants who have obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a Chinese university with Chinese as the medium of instruction are exempt from providing HSK scores. Applicants who do not meet the Chinese proficiency requirement are required to complete 1–2 years of Chinese language training at the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University.
2.Programs taught in English: Applicants whose native language is not English must achieve TOEFL 90 or above or IELTS 6.5 or above, or provide other valid proof of equivalent English proficiency. Applicants whose highest degree was taught in English must submit proof of English-medium instruction. The Master of Business Administration (SIMBA) program at our School is taught entirely in English.
V.Applicants’ academic performance, academic level, and language proficiency must meet the admission requirements of the applied program.
★Special Reminder: Graduate students may not simultaneously pursue programs at two or more academic levels, or two programs at the same academic level. Any violation will result in cancellation of the application or admission.

Admission Procedures
I.Preliminary Review
By April 30, 2026 (Fall intake), the School will organize no fewer than five experts per program to conduct a preliminary review of applicants’ eligibility and submitted materials. The review will also include a comprehensive assessment of language proficiency, professional competence, and research potential. Only applicants who pass the preliminary review are eligible to proceed to the re-examination.
II.Re-examination
(I)The re-examination schedule will be announced on the official websites of the respective schools/colleges.
(II)Applicants who passed the preliminary review must present the Re-Examination Notice and valid identification to participate in the re-examination.
(III)Each program will have no fewer than five experts assess applicants’ overall competence, language proficiency, and research potential.
(IV)The re-examination is primarily conducted as a comprehensive interview. The re-examination for Doctoral students will generally be no less than 30 minutes, including at least 15 minutes of academic presentation per applicant; the re-examination for Master's students will generally be no less than 20 minutes.
(V)Applicants under the equivalent academic qualification category must additionally take two core undergraduate or postgraduate courses in a written examination. The scores of these additional tests will not be included in the total re-examination score, but failure in any subject will result in disqualification.
(VI)Each program will rank applicants based on a weighted total score of preliminary review and re-examination results. The admission list will be determined from highest to lowest scores.
(VII)The preliminary admission list will be publicly announced by the Graduate School around late May 2026 (Fall intake) for a period of no fewer than seven days. Any changes must be explained and re-announced for an additional seven days. Applicants not included in the public announcement by the Graduate School are not eligible for admission. Study Mode and Duration
(I)For graduate students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities, their study modes include full-time and part-time. Full-time students attend classes Monday to Friday. Part-time students attend classes on weekends or other off-work hours.
(II)For international graduate students, the study mode is full-time.

Enrollment and Registration
New students must report for registration with the Jinan University Graduate Admission Letter and relevant documents on the designated date. Students unable to report on time must ask for leave from the School in advance. Failure to ask for leave, unapproved leave, or late reporting for registration exceeding two weeks will be regarded as waiving the admission. Applicants who have not obtained the required degree or certificate before enrollment will have their admission invalidated.

Accommodation
The University provides on-campus accommodation for full-time graduate students. Fees may be adjusted according to actual accommodation arrangements each year. Detailed accommodation fee standards are published on the University Finance Office website: http://cwc.jnu.edu.cn.
Graduation and Degree Awarding
Students who complete the required credits, successfully defend the degree thesis, meet the degree awarding criteria, and attain the required Chinese language proficiency level (as specified in the training plan), will be awarded a Graduate Diploma and Degree Certificate recognized by the Ministry of Education of China.
